Sundance Cove

Initial design studies focused on the integration of the building program with the elevated site and its view of the lake. Early concepts explored various configurations of the plaza, which descends to ground level in the back, facilitating easy access and enhancing the flow between the buildings. The grid line of in-ground lights was conceptualized to visually connect the Community Center and Fitness Center, extending that visual grid line to the walls with vertical linear light fixtures on both buildings. Roof designs and materials were carefully considered to complement the lake view and maintain cohesion between the asymmetrical buildings

Throughout the design process, the floor plans were meticulously developed to balance functionality and aesthetic appeal. The Community Center was designed to include flexible spaces for social interaction, study, and leisure, all with views of the pool and the lake beyond. The Fitness Center’s layout was crafted to create a calming environment, featuring natural materials and a sense of open space. The buildings face each other, maintaining individual identities while complementing one another. Material choices such as natural stone and wood were selected to reflect the lake view and enhance the architectural theme. The strategic placement of the buildings and the elevated plaza maximized the site's visual and functional potential.
