STATUS
COMPLETE

The site required significant attention to detail to ensure all the client's requirements were met. The planning process included coordination with the community center to preserve the community's aesthetic and the flexibility to provide a space that could serve the neighborhood's needs. Our project team worked with M/I Homes and Johnson Development Services, the developers, as well as Kudela & Weinheimer Landscape Architects to deploy this new Pool Pavilion. The pavilion will be constructed using structural brick, which combines the allure and strength of fire clay units with larger core holes that can accept reinforcement, allowing the project to be completed in less time, utilizing fewer masons, reducing material cost, and increasing resilience and life safety. The pavilion will provide three family restrooms, a storage room, and pool equipment space to support the community year-round. Additionally, Sorella will include a resort-style pool, an event lawn, lakeside walking trails, and multiple playgrounds.

The Design

The initial concept studies examined how to seamlessly blend the amenity center and outdoor pavilions into the surrounding landscape. The simple design harnesses natural ventilation through the roof and above the masonry walls, effectively cooling visitors and keeping the space feeling fresh.
