CONCEPTUAL

Creekland Lakeside Pavilion is a new 6,000 square foot open-air picnic area within the community park, designed by SWA. This amenity features a grilling area with sinks and workspace, restrooms, seating, and games. The pavilion provides essential shade for Texas with a playful design. It draws inspiration from the expressive, visible structure of a country barn and the airy, relaxed nature of a front porch. The hard edges of the storage, utility, and restrooms form a brick backdrop for a colorful mural that connects to the landscape language throughout the park. These enclosed functions frame the grilling bar and ground the airy picnic seating area and thin sailing roofs.

Concept and Sketches

At the beginning of 2024, SWA requested Project Luong to design a pavilion for Lily Pad Park in Creekland Lakeside at the Bridgeland community in Cypress, TX. The pavilion provides the essential Texas amenity of shade with a playful twist. Inspired by the expressive, visible structure of an open-slat barn and the airy, relaxed nature of a front porch, the pavilion offers a welcoming atmosphere. The amenity includes a grilling area with sinks and a prep counter, restrooms, seating, and a game area.

Schematic Design

The Lily Pad Park pavilion is taking shape with a modern roofline and aesthetic that harmonizes with the natural landscape and the overall theme of the park. The hard edges of the storage, utility, and restrooms create a brick backdrop for a colorful mural, connecting to the landscape language throughout the park. These enclosed functions also frame the grilling bar, grounding the breezy picnic seating area and the thin, sail-like roofs.
