The Texas City Community Plaza, located at the corner of 8th Avenue and 5th Avenue, is an eagerly awaited park featuring multi-functional spaces with a variety of activities. The park includes an amphitheater, a park area, and a picnic pavilion structure adjacent to the food truck area. The goal for this project was to maximize the activities offered on the existing food truck site. Anchoring each end of the park, the amphitheater pavilion near 5th Avenue sets the stage for future events, while the picnic pavilion near 6th Avenue provides a shaded seating area and restrooms near the food truck zone.

Park Plan

The goal for this project was to maximize the activities offered on the existing food truck site.

This layout takes a formal approach to provide structure and hierarchy to the high-use areas of the park. The use of multi-functional spaces yields the capacity for a large amount of program within a small footprint. This version also provides a minimal amount of on-site parking along 7th Avenue.
