Design Charette
After the initial design charrette and client meeting, we decided to develop and refine two main design ideas for the park's architectural shade elements. The first design took a more literal approach, resembling a butterfly coming down for water or food. This form created a traditional park pavilion shade structure and incorporated a slow stream water element into the park. The second option was a more abstract artistic approach, using the wings of a butterfly as the main shade elements. These wings, varying on a single column, provided multiple points of shade while serving more as a folly than a traditional shade pavilion. These concepts were sketched with ink and markers to quickly capture and present the ideas to the landscape architect and client.
